Job Title: Clerk to the Governing Body

Start Date: September 2026

Location: Churcham Primary School, Churcham, Gloucester

Pay Grade 6 – scale point 15 - 20

Hours: Part-time, Term-time only. Approximately 2.63 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Are you an organised, proactive administrator with excellent attention to detail? We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Clerk to support our Governing Body at Churcham School

The Board of Governors plays a vital role in the strategic direction and success of our school. We need an independent professional to manage our meetings and ensure we remain compliant with statutory education regulations.

 

The Role

Working closely with the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher, your core duties will include:

  • Drafting agendas and collating supporting documents for circulation.

  • Attending governing body meetings (primarily held in the evenings) and producing highly accurate minutes.

  • Providing independent, procedural, and legal advice to ensure the governing board operates within statutory frameworks.

  • Maintaining governance records, managing membership details, and tracking policy review dates.

  • While previous clerking or school governance experience is advantageous, it is not essential as comprehensive training can be provided.

You will need:

·        Strong administrative and IT skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based platforms).

·        Excellent minute-taking abilities and written communication.

·        Tact, discretion, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.

·        The flexibility to attend evening meetings and work remotely at other times to meet deadlines.
