We have a dedicated and committed core team of teaching staff. Staff are supported by external specialist teachers in various fields depending on the topic the children are learning.
Mark Davies - Executive Headteacher
I started as Executive Headteacher at Ashleworth Church of England and Churcham Primary School in January 2025. I joined the partnership from a small rural school in Gloucestershire where I was previously Deputy Headteacher. I am passionate about ensuring all children are safe, happy and are supported in fulfilling their full potential. When I'm not in school, I love to spend time with my family, enjoy a variety of sports and continuing to expand my lego collection!
Tina Birch - Finance Administrator
I have worked at Churcham Primary School since 2008 and I run the school office. If you visit or telephone the school, I will be the first person you meet. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy listening to music and going out with my friends to Northern Soul/music events and my 2 Vespa scooters.
Richelle Daniels - SENDCo
I started my journey in 2018 as a class teacher teaching Reception and Key Stage One before moving into my current role as SENCo. I enjoy my SENCo role as I get the opportunity to work with children across the school and provide individual support to the children and parents. Outside of school I am a mother to my two children, I love spending time with my family and friends.
Katie Foylan - Class 1 Teacher (R/KS1)
I have been lucky enough to be a part of the Churcham team since January 2025! I am the teacher in Class 1, working with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. My favourite subjects to teach are art and science! Outside of school, you'll typically find me on the netball court playing a variety of positions, or at home drawing, designing and painting!
Esther Deackes - Class 2 Teacher (Y5/6)
My name is Esther Deackes and I am a KS2 teacher at Churcham Primary School (Years 5 & 6). I've been at Churcham Primary School since the start of my teaching career (9 years ago) and I love the 'family feel' that Churcham offers. Outside of school, I am a mother to my son and I love to spend time with my family, walk my dog, go to the gym and spend quality time with friends.
David Paterson - Class 2 Teacher (Y5/6)
I have had the opportunity over my career to teach the whole age range of KS2 pupils and am delighted to be one of the Class 2 teachers here at Churcham. I will be leading History and Geography which are subjects which I'm passionate about (especially with my History degree!). Outside of school, I'm a beleaguered father of three and an unrepentant geek. If my head isn't in a book, I'm probably playing an overly complex board game of some description. If the weather is nice you may also find me out and about walking in the Forest of Dean where we live.
Rebecca Dodd - Class 2 Teacher (Y3/4)
My name is Rebecca Dodd and I am one of the teachers in Class 2 (Year 3 and 4). I started at Churcham in September 2024 and have enjoyed every minute of being a part of such a friendly team. My other roles in school are subject leader of PSHE, DT and Modern Foreign Languages. In my spare time you will often find me either reading a book somewhere or in my kitchen baking up a variety of treats. I also enjoy spending time at home with my husband and two cats Lilly and Sooty.
Sophie Muirhead - Class 1 Teaching Assistant
"After moving from Scotland to the Forest of Dean in late 2023, I have been lucky enough to be part of Churcham as a Teaching Assistant in Class 1 since April 2024, where I help support the children in KS1 with a range of learning activities - I especially love reading/story time with the children! Outside of school, you'll find me attending lots of concerts, or at home watching Marvel movies with our two puppies, Chester, and Coco!"
Rebecca Wigg - Class 1 Teaching Assistant
I joined Churcham Primary school in November 2024. I work in Class 1 as Teaching Assistant supporting children in Reception and KS1. Additionally, I provide cover PPA. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and keeping fit by doing by Yoga and going running.
