Mathematical mastery is built through understanding why and how, not just answering quickly. Pupils follow a carefully sequenced approach using concrete, pictorial and abstract representations to build secure conceptual understanding.
Our teaching follows the structure:
Fluency (Do it): developing number sense, facts, formulas and efficient methods
Reasoning (Secure it): applying logical thinking, explaining strategies and justifying answers
Problem Solving (Deepen it): tackling unfamiliar problems using taught strategies
