Online Safety

Online Safety (E-Safety) at Churcham

Online Safety (E‑Safety)

Being online is an integral part of children’s lives. They use the internet for learning, playing, socialising and exploring the world. At Churcham Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that pupils learn how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly—both in school and at home.

Online safety is a core part of our safeguarding and child protection responsibilities. We teach pupils how to recognise risks, make safe choices, and seek help when something worries them. We also work closely with parents and carers to ensure children are supported in developing healthy, safe online habits.

Our Approach to Online Safety

We ensure online safety through:

  • Robust filtering and monitoring systems in school

  • A taught curriculum covering digital citizenship, online behaviour, cyberbullying, privacy, gaming, social media and reporting concerns

  • Regular staff training in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education

  • Clear policies on acceptable use for pupils, staff and parents

  • Open conversations with pupils about the benefits and risks of being online

  • Partnership with parents, providing guidance and signposting to trusted resources

Online safety is not just about technology—it is about communication, awareness and supporting children to make safe choices.

Support for Parents and Carers

We know that keeping up with online trends, apps and games can feel overwhelming. We encourage parents to talk regularly with their children about what they do online and to use the trusted resources below for guidance.
